Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

MSFFL3049 - Apply densifiers and sealers to concrete surfaces

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?

Identify and prepare for work requirements

  1. Applicable work health and safety (WHS), legislative and organisational requirements relevant to the application of densifiers and sealers are verified and complied with
  2. Instructions and/or plans are read and interpreted to identify process required to complete work tasks
  3. Relevant densifying and sealing materials are selected with regard to job requirements, manufacturer recommendations and client expectations
  4. Selected materials are assessed as being compatible with the surface to be treated
  5. Application tools, equipment and materials are selected and checked prior to use to ensure that they are appropriate for the work, serviceable and in a safe condition
  6. Surface to be densified or sealed is inspected and assessed as being ready for application, with any minor surface imperfections corrected and signs erected to warn others of the application process
  7. Work sequence is planned to ensure efficiency and quality of application
  8. WHS requirements, including isolation, ventilation and other personal protection needs, are observed throughout the work
